Role

An exciting opportunity exists to join our Wesfarmers Corporate Solicitors Office and provide legal support to our Data and Digital Division. 

You will be a part of our Wesfarmers Corporate Solicitors Office but located with our Data and Digital team in Melbourne CBD. This full-time role will allow you to build an in-depth understanding of the business operations and provide commercial legal support in real time. 

This is a full-time permanent position.

What you’ll be doing 

  • Working closely with senior management to provide sound and commercially astute legal advice
  • Drafting and reviewing legal documentation
  • Providing advice on regulatory matters
  • Engaging and managing external legal advisers 
  • Educating team members on legal developments

What you’ll need 

  • At least 10 years post admission experience with extensive experience in privacy and data protection, as well as experience in a broad range of commercial, corporate and regulatory law across a variety of issues
  • Proven experience in working with businesses to arrive at commercial outcomes
  • Demonstrated capability in advising on commercial contracts (including procurement contracts); privacy and data protection; and competition and consumer law
  • Ability to adopt a pragmatic and level-headed approach to ensure a quick turnaround when providing advice and support to our businesses
  • Strong drafting, analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication capabilities
  • An ability to work well with others but also autonomously as required
  • A genuine interest and passion to learn and develop new skills
